Like all theatres, the Indee took some biggish financial hits from early COVID which, combined with 3 changes of domicile over 3 years, had it somewhat on the ropes. But did that stop it? Go on, admit it. You just know the answer's going to be NO. Otherwise there's no point to all this lead-up stuff, nor for that matter, in still having a website ... or being called INDEPENDENT
AND HERE'S THE EXCITING OUTCOME!
This next is not the original quote "if the mountain can't come to the Indee, the Indee will come to the mountain".
IN A NUTSHELL
The Independent Theatre decided, once restrictions were softened, that we'd take comedies to the Sunshine Coast Retirement Villages (after all, mature-aged audiences had been our bread and butter for many a long day). Plus villages are mostly equipped with stages and front curtains, if not always, (we discovered), things like access doors to the stage.
AND HERE'S THE RESULTANT RESULT!
We put out a couple of feelers stating that we were thinking about becoming Village People, with which enquiries well above our expectations flowed in. So far this year we've performed at IRT Parklands Bellflower Allora Gardens Hibiscus Chancellor Park IRT The Palms
Peregian Springs Country Club and have onward bookings taking us through to November (a mix of new and repeat)
